Rasheed reminded me I never gave you the answer to the alphabet riddle! How many letters are in the alphabet?
11! T-h-e...a-l-p-h-a-b-e-t = 11 letters! hahahaha
Rasheed and my family have been enjoying these beautiful days! We've been reading one of my favorite springtime books by Beatrix Potter, a collection of stories about PETER RABBIT and his different adventures. It reminds me of the stories YOU have been writing about your character (who is a PERSON - not a rabbit or other made up character), with a different adventure each week. Be sure to keep those stories and all of your work. I'll let you know how we will collect them. HAPPY SPRING BREAK!
We have been enjoying the beautiful weather! Rasheed and I love to look at our book about birds and try to figure out which ones are coming to our bird feeder! What do you enjoy doing OUTSIDE??? Remember, do your classwork, but also spend time playing outside!
CHALLENGE: Stand outside and sing your favorite song as loud as you can! :-)
Try this riddle!
HOW MANY LETTERS ARE IN THE ALPHABET? (Remember it's a RIDDLE - not exactly a real question!)
You say 26? NOPE! The answer is 11! Try to figure that out - I'll explain tomorrow! :-) <3

Today's tongue twister, since we have such a beautiful day after all that rain:
No need to light a night-light on a light night like tonight!
Check back tomorrow to see what Rasheed and I have been doing!
Also, how are those shoe strings coming along? ;-)

Week 2 MONDAY
Try this tongue twister:
If a dog chews shoes, whose shoes does he chose?
If you think that's easy (really???), try memorizing it and teach it to someone in your family!
HELPFUL HINT: This is directly from GoNoodle, which we love to use in the classroom! It requires you to log in but I'm not sure if it fee-free or not.
GoNoodle is awesome fun for the whole family! We love it when everyone does our dances, sings our songs, and plays GoNoodle together. It’s a daily ritual in most elementary schools across the U.S. (and many around the world) and we think it’s a super fun thing you can do with your little ones every day too! Plus, we have another app called “GoNoodle Games” that is an awesome way to get your kids moving in front of the screen. Sign up for our emails and in the days and weeks ahead, we will send you weekly fresh, fun ideas for you and your kids well-beyond GoNoodle. Sign up to get these on the Good Energy page.

WEEK 1 of digital learning...WE DID IT! Thanks SO much to everyone for all the kind words about the lessons, as well as those who expressed how difficult it must be when we have a roomful of darlings rather than just a couple. ;-) I trust you've seen my email about the upcoming week(s). Rasheed wants to remind the students to enjoy lots of reading! Here he is with one of his favorite books. Check back here Monday for Week 2 fun & challenges. I plan to post before lunchtime.

Here we are preparing for our first week of online learning! Rasheed is safely home with me as we begin this interesting time! And.....bedtime for Rasheed and Ridley!
Here are a few cute pics from recent weeks. Celebrating the Exceptional Child, morning math - group on the carpet and Emrys at the board, and our February Dojo Reward Winners. AWESOME CLASS!!! :-)
Below you'll see our Dojo point winners from January, as well as some super cute little Valentines!!! <3 <3
Book characters from our parade Friday. Thanks for your help, families!
Here are our little 100 year old first graders last week.
SO CUTE!
If you were able to bring your child to the musical last week, then you already know how AWESOME they were! What you might not know is that ALL our students - whether they could attend that night or not - helped our TEAM earn the grade level prize for the best attitude & behavior during rehearsals, as well as the performance. GO-O-O-O-O-O, TEAM!!!
We have been busy at Manning Oaks! This is a lesson we had to help us understand that we don't all need the same things all the time, when we go to the doctor, or at school! Dr. Rupvi & I gave all of our patients the very same type of help, no matter what was wrong! This is a fun way to start the discussion about why at school teachers don't always use the same incentives or teaching structures with all children, all the time.
All first graders at MOE earned their WORD DETECTIVE BADGES last week!
A desk fairy has visited our classroom a couple of times to celebrate and reward one girl and one boy who have kept their desk organized and tidy so they can find exactly what they need. Good job, students!
We had our first Class Dojo school store last week. Students who had the top points from each class were invited to visit and choose a prize. Good job, firsties!
I hope that many students will have this chance throughout the year!

Our class has been working hard to mind our cafeteria manners and rules, and it paid off! We had the most cafeteria points for September so we earned a snow cone party on Friday. Good job, team!
I hope you saw Mrs. Rosenthall's post that we met our Boosterthon goal! What amazing support MOE has from our community!
Students have no school on Friday, October 11, or Monday, October 14. ENJOY!
First quarter ends October 10. How can we be here already? Your students are growing by leaps and bounds! Take a look at our little readers.....

Monday - sock day (Target friends, let's make your sock day on Friday!)

Friday - hat day
Let's try to get library books back to school as soon as students are finished reading them. Students will be allowed to get new books between our regularly scheduled times, but books have to be at school for that to happen!

PICTURE DAY IS FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 20! Info came home in the blue folder on Friday.
Thanks to all who made it to Curriculum Night and our Fun Run! Please see your child's Fox Folder tomorrow for a note to clarify a few topics we discussed. Please also check out the Manning Oaks website for info about our upcoming Spirit Nights at Skyzone!
CURRICULUM NIGHT is Thursday, 9/12, from 5:30-6:30, 1 hour only (this is a change from previous announcements). We will begin right away in the classroom with a word from Mrs. Rosenthall, then I will give you as much info as I can until 6:25, when I will take a few group-related questions. NOTE: I will not be able to answer child-specific questions that night. Please plan to email me individual concerns another time. Adults only, please.
FUN RUN IS FRIDAY, 9/13! New from last year: Please send your child to school Friday in a t-shirt that you don't mind us putting a large sticker on, and that will likely get dirty and sweaty! Teachers will be placing tally marks on the stickers as children run around the course. THERE WILL NOT BE A T-SHIRT PROVIDED THIS YEAR. We will begin around 8:00am. Join us if you can!
