Tuesday is DAY 100 of school! Wow! I hope you saw the info that came home (twice) & will help your child dress as if they are 100 years old. I'll take some pictures and you'll be able to see our little old group with next week's post! :-)
Wednesday is library day. Please help students bring their books back to school as soon as they have read them.
Friday we'll enjoy our BOOK CHARACTER PARADE! We'll walk down the hallways for our fellow MOE students that afternoon. Please help children be comfortable in their character clothing, as we will otherwise have a normal day that includes P.E. and recess. We can have some minimal clothing adjustments (such as putting on a hat) but no complete clothing changes. I'll post pics from that day also!
Please be sure to check out the Manning Oaks website as there are several upcoming opportunities for fun service and fun.
A note about recess taken directly from the Fulton County handbook:
The students go outside unless it is raining, the wind chill is 15 degrees or lower, there are dangerous weather conditions such as ice, snow, powerful winds, etc.
PROPER DRESS - 51-60 degrees JACKETS ARE REQUIRED
16-50 degrees WINTER COATS ARE REQUIRED
If winter coats are required since the high temperature is not expected to be above 50 degrees then shorts are not appropriate. Please help your child dress accordingly as this policy will be STRICTLY ENFORCED.
Continuing to reinforce our Manning Oaks ROARS - Responsibility, Ownership, Attitude, Respect, and Safety - in the classroom and throughout the school - ALL DAY, EVERY DAY! :-)
MATH - Telling time to the hour and half hour, names and differences in digital and analog clocks, working toward fluency (knowing facts in our heads without needing fingers) with all addition and subtraction up to 10, being able to TALK ABOUT and EXPLAIN our thinking with all math topics
SCIENCE - Magnets...understanding our vocabulary: attract, repel, poles
WRITING - Another week with different poems, focusing on one topic at a time
READING - Reading our books as if we are acting them out, using our voices to help us understand the characters.
These are some high points - not a full list....
Many topics carry over from week to week.
